These are the main and supporting characters in the manga. I have included a picture of each, a short description, and their role, and relationship to the other characters in the story. Maria Fuyumi (her last name means "Winter Sea") is a 15 year old girl (although she has her 16th birthday around the middle of the story), who lives with her mother, as her father is dead. The story follows her at the Green Garden Academy, the prestigious private school that she attends, courtesy of Daddy Longlegs. Her mission is to find out who Daddy Longlegs is, and to meet him, being as she promised to be his bride.     Maria's mother is always ill, and at the beginning of the story, she is in the hospital. She sends Maria to Green Garden Academy, where she attended when she was Maria's age. She likes to tease Maria, and is more of a sister than a mother to her daughter. She knows the secret behind Daddy Longlegs, and tells Maria about him, but does not tell her who he is.     [No picture available] Maria's father died when Maria was very young. So young, in fact, that she barely remembers him, and often wonders how she felt around him. He died when he ran into the road to save a kitten from being hit by a car, and was hit himself. He met Maria's mother (their names are never given) in the rose garden at Green Garden Academy. Maie-sensei is Maria's mother's doctor. He is also the father of Kazuma, and acquaintance of Daddy Longlegs. It is through him that Maria sends her letters to Daddy Longlegs. He used to be in love with Maria's mother, when the two of them, and Maria's father, went to Green Garden Academy.       Kazuma is a classmate of Maria's, who is attending Green Garden on a scholarship. Maria falls in love with him, then it is revealed that he, and his father, Maie-sensei, used to live next door to Maria and her family before Maria's father died. Kazuma would bully Maria, even though he was in love with her. Even at Green Garden, he bullies Maria, and yet protects her.     Ema and Noa are twins, with different attitudes. Ema is Maria's best friend, and roommate at Green Garden. She likes the idea that Maria has a Daddy Longlegs, and is just as curious and interested in who it is as Maria herself. Ema is the somewhat cold sister, who is jealous of Maria, because Kazuma is her boyfriend, but she knows that he is more interested in Maria.   Kazushi is Kazuma's best friend, and very warm, and friendly. He likes to laugh a lot, and is one of the first people (along with Ema) who makes Maria feel at home. Although his personality is more like Ema's, he seems to have a secret love for Noa (also never really mentioned in the story).
