Here I have a list of all the romances that go on during the course of the story. There were many, and some minor love triangles, so pay attention! ^_^
Maria's mother and father, and Maie-sensei: These three went to Green Garden Academy together when they were young. They were all best friends, and Maie and Maria's father both loved Maria's mother, and rivaled for her, although obviously, we know who won her. After Maria's mother and father married, they lived next door to Maie, and his son (his wife is only mentioned once, and that is Maria asking Kazuma if she died). They all remained good friends, until Maria's father died, and Maria and her mother eventually moved away. She and Maie kept in contact, however, and he is her doctor when she is in the hospital. At the end, he tells her that he still loves her, and asks if she will give him another chance. Kazuma and Maria: The main couple of the manga, these two have a childhood history together. They lived next door to each other when they were little, as Maie is Kazuma's father. Kazuma at that time had been in love with Maria, even though she had a huge crush on his father. He learned how to play the piano like Maie, and told her that he would play it for her if she would someday become his bride. She promised him that she would, and he never forgot her promise. They meet later at Green Garden, where he plays a special piano piece, and keeps a rose garden for her, and bullies her. Maria finds out that she and Kazuma used to know each other, and remembers her promise to him. She eventually falls in love with him, which conflicts with her promise to Daddy Longlegs. Kazuma and Noa: When Maria came to Green Garden, and met everyone, Noa was jealous of her because Kazuma seemed so interested in her. She later tells Maria that they are dating, and to stay away. Near the end, she calls Kazushi to tell him that she broke up with Kazuma before he broke up with her, since she knew that he really loved Maria. Noa and Kazushi: While it's never stated point blank that Kazushi loved Noa, he was always supportive and helpful to her, and when she calls him to tell him that she broke up with Kazuma, he says, "I'll be right over." At the end of the book, you see Noa and Kazushi together. |
